Victorian Jewellery - My first love
My love of antique Jewellery definitely began after purchasing a silver Victorian bracelet from the 1880's. I have always adored Jewellery but this new attraction to Jewellery was for me more than a little adoration, it was a deep love, soon to be an obsession! The bracelet I first bought was a wide band solid silver cuff bracelet with beautiful hand engraving of a floral etched pattern. I wondered who this bracelet belonged to, was it a gift? How did it end up in Australia & now in my hands. There is something fascinating about an object that has survived from a time now so far away. The Victorian era was a wonderful era for Jewellery design, pieces overflow with the allure of a romantic idea & symbolism of great sentiment.
These bracelets are Victorian wedding bracelets commonly given as a gift to the bride, always a pair, I love the twisting gold and the etruscan details on the ends. Beautiful!
